Successful Completion of MEL Training

The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Jubaland (MoFBE), with support from the World Food Programme (WFP), has successfully concluded a 10-day training on Registration, Monitoring, and Evaluation (MEL) for its staff in Kismayo.

This training equipped 12 ministry staff with critical skills in data collection, performance monitoring, and evaluation, preparing them for deployment to the islands of Jubaland. Their mission is to register fisheries cooperatives and gather essential data on fish species, cooperative activities, and fisheries resources—ensuring informed decision-making for sustainable fisheries management.

The Ministry expresses its deep appreciation to WFP for its invaluable support in enhancing the capacity of fisheries governance in Jubaland. Together, we continue to promote responsible fishing practices and the sustainable growth of the blue economy.
