Enhancing the Fishing Capacity and improving the livelihoods of the Fisheries Cooperatives.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy (MOFBE) of Jubaland, in partnership with Secours Islamique France (SIF), has handed over six repaired fishing boats to six fisheries cooperatives in Jubaland. This initiative aims to enhance the fishing capacity and improve the livelihoods of the cooperatives involved, contributing to sustainable food security in the region.
The handover, ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Hon Mohamed Omar Bunu along with the Director-General, Mr. Mohamud Abdi Ahmed. The deputy minister highlighted the significance of this contribution, not only in supporting the local cooperatives but also in advancing the broader goal of boosting the blue economy in Jubaland.
“These boats will greatly strengthen the fishing activities of the cooperatives, helping to secure livelihoods and ensure food security in the region. We, appreciate the tremendous support provided by SIF, whose collaboration has been crucial to the success of this initiative,” stated the Deputy Minister during the event.
